Job description

Assists in planning, developing, organizing and implementing the activity programs to encourage resident socialization, improve daily living skills, expand personal interests and increase the physical, intellectual, emotional and psychological well-being of the residents.

Acts as a leader for scheduled activities with residents.

Assists with coordinating the transporting residents to scheduled community-sponsored activities.

Performs other duties as needed or as assigned.

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)

North Woods Village at Edison Lakes, Michiana's premier dedicated Memory Care Assisted Living community, is seeking a Director of Life Enrichment.    At North Woods Village, having a passion for serving those with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia is the most important quality for our team.  A high-level of commitment helps distinguish our senior living community from others and ensures the best living experience for our residents and their families. The Director of Life Enrichment is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the life enrichment activities designed to encourage resident socialization, improve daily living skills, expand personal interests and increase the physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and psychological well-being of the residents. Must possess a degree as an Occupational Therapist, Recreation Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant; or has completed or will complete within one year of hire an approved activities director course. If OT, RT, or COTA, licensed in good standing with the state of Indiana. Must have two years experience in a social or recreation program, leadership/management experience preferred.  Certified Dementia Practitioner preferred. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Reporting To:

Responsibility:
Provide personalized care and service in a manner conducive to the safety, comfort, personal dignity, and well-being of our residents. Carry out all duties as assigned by the supervisor and as directed by the Director of Health & Wellness to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Requirements:
Concern for, appreciation and understanding of the aging person. Desire to work with older adults. Friendly, caring disposition. Ability to communicate with a variety of persons including staff, residents, physicians, and families. Must possess Indiana state certification to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) Experience in a dementia care environment is preferred.

Part-Time Opportunities
North Woods Village of Kalamazoo is an award-winning licensed memory care assisted living community, focused on caring for residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. We are looking for caring individuals with a passion to provide personalized care and services for our residents in a safe, comfortable manner which exemplifies their personal dignity and well-being. Our Nurses provide high quality, holistic nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards and health care regulations which govern the practice of professional nursing. Nurses also lead licensed and non-professional staff in the delivery of direct resident care and support functions and report to the Director of Health & Wellness to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all time.

Requirements:
Must possess a current and active license to practice as an LPN or RN in Michigan. Minimum of one year experience in assisted living industry or health care. Dementia care experience preferred.
