Monoclonal Antibody Therapy to Treat COVID-19: Now Available for Our Residents in the Comfort of their Home at North Woods Village

We are working hard 24/7 to keep all of our residents safe from COVID-19.  However, for those residents who may contract the virus and get sick, we will now be able to provide, under Doctor’s orders, Monoclonal Antibody Therapy in the comfort of their home with us at North Woods Village via our partnership with In Touch Pharmacy.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy (mAB) is best used for COVID positive individuals with mild to moderate symptoms, but at high risk for significant complications, such as those who are obese, elderly, or have co-morbidities such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or immunosuppressive disorders. Potential recipients should not be ill enough to require hospitalization or require supplemental oxygen. Administration should be provided between day 3 and day 10 following onset of symptoms.

While administration of Monoclonal Antibody Therapy has not been shown to decrease viral load, it has demonstrated significant reductions in hospitalizations or emergency room visits for individuals at high risk.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy is delivered through intravenous (IV) infusion over a 60 minute or longer period of time. This is followed by an observation period of 60 minutes. Residents or their power of attorney must consent to administration of this treatment.

In Touch Pharmacy will coordinate the administration of the IV treatment by their nurses as well as handle the billing arrangements to Medicare and/or insurance providers.
