Staying Hydrated and Happy!

Maintaining your hydration in the warm summer months is an important part of enjoying the season.
Water is critical to your health because it:

  1. Regulates body temperature.
  2. Flushes waste from the body.
  3. Lubricates and cushions joints.
  4. Promotes digestion.
  5. Improves memory, mood, and sleep.

64 oz of water is the amount the Mayo Clinic advises for a normal size adult. Others suggest converting your body weight number from pounds to ounces (i.e. 185 lbs = 185 oz.) and divide that amount by 2 to
get the amount of water to consume each day in ounces (here 185oz/2= 92.5 oz of water a day). Any fluid is beneficial but drinking water is best. Remember you can add fruit or vegetables to your water for added flavor and fun (but alcohol and caffeine drain water from the body)!!! At North Woods Village, we have hydration stations found throughout our neighborhoods. Please stop-by and help yourself to some flavored water to help maintain your hydration.
