We Are Still Here to Help!

Deciding to move a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia is always a difficult decision but given the uncertainty of today’s environment, it is even more daunting.  We want you to know that if you do need help, North Woods Village is ready and prepared to provide exceptional care for your loved one during this extraordinary time.

If you are faced with having to move your loved one into a memory care assisted living community right now, there may be some advantages to doing so.  At North Woods Village, only essential personnel are allowed into the building at this time. Taking temperatures of all essential personnel and screening for symptoms are part of our daily routines to help reduce the chances of an ill individual from entering the building.   Frequent sanitizing and cleaning of high use areas per CDC and state guidelines are occurring throughout the day for the safety of our residents and our staff. Additionally, we have increased the frequency of supervised hand-washing schedules and hand-washing reminders along with prompts to cover noses and mouths if coughing or sneezing.  We have on hand, personal protective equipment to support any specialized care needs and are working with all our national and local strategic partners to acquire more equipment for potential needs in the future.

As recommended by the Alzheimer’s Association, we are working to minimize as best we can any changes to resident routines and daily structure while practicing social distancing.  Residents are continuing their daily activities and enjoying the outdoors in our secured courtyard as weather permits.

If you are worried that your loved one is living alone right now and may be struggling with getting food deliveries, taking their needed medications appropriately or keeping up with their personal hygiene,  North Woods Village can help. We offer three well balanced and nutritious chef-prepared meals per day in addition to snacks and access to much need hydration to keep immunity levels up. All medications are administered by our nursing staff and most medications are delivered regularly to our front door by our pharmacy partner to minimize any challenges with obtaining the needed medications.  Our nursing staff is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide the assistance needed and to keep your loved one safe.

Virtual Family Connection Centers are a standard offering at North Woods Village communities.  These specially designed rooms facilitate video conferencing and help residents and their families connect virtually utilizing the latest in telecommunication technology.  Additionally, we are happy to keep you in touch with your loved one through FaceTime, Google Hang Outs, Facebook and phone calls as well.

We will all get through this difficult time by working together and taking it one day at a time.  For more information on moving your loved one during this time, or to schedule a personalized virtual tour of our community from the comfort of your own home, please don’t hesitate to call us.
